Post Race Career

Since retiring from racing, Brian has continued to have an influence in the cycling world. In 2003 he established the Braveheart Cycling Fund, to raise money to help ambitious young Scottish cyclists fulfil their dreams of turning professional and racing on the continent.

Since it was established, The Braveheart Fund has raised in excess of £120,000 and supported at least fifty young cyclists. It has also backed its first world champion – Ruaridh Cunningham, who in 2007 became Scotland’s first world mountain bike champion, winning the downhill title in Fort William.

In June 2006 Brian became a pundit on internet cycling channel Cycling.tv, where his contacts throughout the cycling world – from ex-team mates now involved in running teams to Lance Armstrong – have proved vital.

Brian’s forensic analyses of race tactics, his ability to predict what will happen and what the teams are up to, make his an authoritative voice in cycling commentary.

With his co-commentator Anthony McCrossan, Brian covers over 150 live racing days for Cycling.tv. His commentaries have also been used by Eurosport and Sky television.
